D-Day – South America here we come

The day has finally arrived. After 6 months of planning, Ellen and I have arrived at the Sydney international airport to fly to South America for a 4 month trip (or earlier if our money runs out) and then heading to Canada to find work!

It is a strange feeling – just quitting our jobs, selling all our belonging’s and packing our life into 2 backpacks. A strong mix of excitement & nervousness. We feel a bit underprepared not bothering to learn any Spanish except for ‘Ola’ (Hello) and ‘Manzanas’ (Apples), but thank god for google translate we shouldn’t starve! Or we will just live on Apples.

On the way to the airport we were driven by an Uber driver named David who is Colombian! He gave us some tips and basically sold Columbia too us – we will definitely make sure we get there now!

We will try to put up our thoughts, memories & hopefully not too many near misses as we travel through South America and Canada over the next 2 years.
